Author Guidelines
Guide To Authors
The Open Journal of Learning and Development (OJLD) is a peer reviewed open access published three (3) times a year. It publishes manuscripts in the field of education, research and development sector. The written manuscript must be of a quality and context that the Editorial Board think would be of interest to an international readership.
The aims and scope of the journals are to:
- Provide a journal that reports experiences and research on topics that are of regional and international significance across educational contexts, research and development sector practices and experiences.
- Publish high quality manuscripts that are of regional and international significance in terms of design and/or findings.
- Encourage collaboration by regional and international teams of researchers from universities, institutes and NGOs to create special issues on varied topics.
The following simple steps will be followed before publishing your paper in Open Journal of Learning and Development:
- The Author will prepare the paper as per Paper preparation guidelines.
- Authors have to submit paper through online submission submit your paper OR mail us at michael.karanja@gmail.com OR elizabeth.ngumbi6@gmail.com
- You will get acknowledgment within 2 daysof submission of paper.
- Within 1 – 2 weeks, you will get review report.
- (a) If paper is rejected, it cannot be publish in The Open Journal of Learning and Development.
(b) If paper is accepted, author needs to deposit fees in the given account with review report.
- After deposition of fees author will have to send the scanned copy of bank receipt to michael.karanja@gmail.com OR elizabeth.ngumbi6@gmail.com
- Author will get acknowledgment mail and publication schedule within 2 days.
- The paper will get published as per given schedule which will be communicated.
Manuscript Preparation by Authors
Title
The title phrase should be brief.
List authors’ full names (first-name, middle-name, and last-name).
Affiliations of authors (department and institution).
Emails and phone numbers.
Formatting
APA format will be the accepted method of presenting the papers.
Abstract
The abstract should be 100 to 250 words in length. The keywords should be less than 10.
Abbreviations
Standard abbreviations should be used all through the manuscript. The use of non-standard abbreviations should be kept to a minimum and must be well-defined in the text following their first use.
The Introduction
The statement of the problem should be stated in the introduction in a clear and concise manner.
Materials and methods
Materials and methods should be clearly presented to allow the reproduction of the experiments.
Results and discussion
Results and discussion maybe combined into a single section. Results and discussion may also be presented separately if necessary.
Tables and figures
Tables should be kept to a minimum.
Tables should have a short descriptive title in line with APA format.
The unit of measurement used in a table should be stated.
Tables should be numbered in a simple and sequential manner eg: Table 1, 2, 3 etc.
Tables should be organized in Microsoft Word or Excel spreadsheet.
Figures/Graphics should be prepared in GIF, TIFF, JPEG or PowerPoint.
Figures should be numbered in a simple and sequential manner eg: Figure 1, 2, 3 etc.
Tables and Figures should be appropriately cited in the manuscript.
Disclosure of Conflict of Interest
Authors should disclose all financial/relevant interest that may have influenced the study. They are required to fill and submit a Conflict of Interest disclosure form provided as an attachment by OJLD.
Acknowledgments
Acknowledgement of people, funds etc should be brief.
References
References should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the paper. DOIs links to referenced articles should be stated wherever available. Names of journals should be presented in full and not abbreviated.

Submission of Manuscript
Authors should read and adhere to publication guidelines to before submitting their manuscripts. Manuscript should be prepared according to the style and specifications as stated in the Instructions to Authors. Authors listed on the manuscript should have met the requirements for Authorship specified above. Where possible, specify the contribution of each of the authors. All authors should approve the final version of the manuscript prior to submission. Once a manuscript is submitted, it is therefore assumed that all authors have read and given their approval for the submission of the manuscript. Contact information of all authors should be stated on the manuscript. Surname/Other names, affiliation, emails, and phone/fax numbers. Conflict of interest declaration by authors
“Conflict Of Interest (COI) exists when there is a divergence between an individual’s private interests (competing interests) and his or her responsibilities to scientific and publishing activities such that a reasonable observer might wonder if the individual’s behavior or judgment was motivated by considerations of his or her competing interests.”
- Authors should disclose all financial/relevant interest that may have influenced the development of the manuscript.
- Reviewers should disclose any conflict of interest and if necessary, decline the review of any manuscript they perceive to have a conflict of interest.
- Editors should also decline from considering any manuscript that may have conflict of interest. Such manuscripts will be re-assigned to other editors.
Confidentiality
A submitted manuscript is a confidential material. Open Journal of Learning and Development will not disclose submitted manuscript to anyone except individuals who partake in the processing and preparation of the manuscript for publication (if accepted). These individuals include editorial staff, corresponding authors, potential reviewers, actual reviewers, and editors. However, in suspected cases of misconduct, a manuscript may be revealed to members of journals’ ethics committee and institutions/organizations that may require it for the resolution of the suspected case of misconduct. Open Journal of Learning and Development shall follow the appropriate OJLD steps wherever necessary.
Misconduct
Misconduct constitutes violation of this editorial policy, journal policies, publication ethics, or any applicable guidelines/policies specified by OJLD. Any other activities that threaten/compromise the integrity of the manuscript/publication process are potential misconducts. Suspected cases of misconduct will be investigated according to OJLD guidelines.

COPYRIGHT AGREEMENT
Please complete and sign the form and send it with the final version of your manuscript. It is required to obtain written confirmation from authors in order to acquire copyrights for papers published in the journal so as to index them to various repositories.

Publication and related Costs
There is no charges to submit paper for review, but Publishing a Paper with OJLD requires Paper Processing Charges, Paper Printing/ Dispatch/ Editorial Expanses, and will be paid by the Submitting Author upon acceptance of the Paper for Publication in Accordance with the following criteria:
